Adopt people friendly governance to benefit masses: Guv

ZIRO | Apr 12 | Governor B.D Mishra reviewed status of national and state flagship programmes the implementation in a meeting with the HoDs here today and advised them to adopt people friendly governance by traversing extra mile to ensure that benefits percolate down to all sections of the society.

Public servants are responsible to the people should work with transparency, accountability, continuity and must subject their action to audit, review and do the mid course corrections wherever needed.

“A society will embark on a speedy developmental if the women are educated. We should, therefore, ensure 100% literacy of women. Every individual in the society should contribute to improve and streamline the spread of education,” he added.

He called for gainfully engaging youth to channelize their energy. They should be encouraged to take up football, fine arts and music to wean them away from drug and gun culture. He also reviewed the army recruitment rally preparations.

Dwelling on ICDS schemes, he said that the social assistance provided to the old and disabled people should be done by DBT. ICDS deputy director should ensure all beneficiaries to open bank accounts.”

He also called for ensuring that the abandoned children in children’s home be treated with sensitivity and imparted skill development training for them to join the mainstream. He assured efforts in locating the parents of a child from Assam, now lodged in children home here.

Addressing a public meeting, attended by the GBs, PRI members and Govt. officials, he advocated successful implementation of development schemes involving the masses.

He said that merit will be only criteria for district-wise police recruitment and the best will be selected so as to restore people’s confidence in governance. The state huge natural resources and tourism, hydropower potentials if harnessed properly could enrich state coffer, he added. (PRO)
